About Stokenham

Tucked on the side of the main coastal road between Kingsbridge and Dartmouth lies the pretty little village of Stokenham. Surrounded by countryside yet less than a mile from the coast, it makes a great location for a holiday in South Devon.

For a small village, Stokenham has lots to offer, including two local pubs, The Tradesman's Arms and Church House Inn, which both serve tasty food. Stokeley Farm Shop is a fantastic place to stock up on delicious local produce to take back to your holiday cottage and cook up a storm!

Less than a mile away is Slapton Ley Nature Reserve. The largest natural lake in the South West, it is only separated from the sea by a narrow shingle bar yet is entirely freshwater. The Ley is a haven for birds and a variety of wildlife, and is a lovely place to take a leisurely stroll to see how many species you can spot.

Stokenham is also less than a mile from Slapton Sands, a 3-mile long pebble beach. Slapton Sands is a dog-friendly beach with no seasonal restrictions, so your furry friend can dig, catch, fetch and doggy paddle to its heart's content. The South West Coast Path can be joined in the neighbouring village of Torcross, offering miles and miles of stunning coastal walks, so don't forget to pack your walking boots.

Located just off South Devon's main coastal road, Stokenham is perfectly placed for exploring the region's best bits. The lively waterside market town of Kingsbridge is a short six-mile drive away, offering a great selection of independent shops, supermarkets, bars and restaurants, whilst one of Devon's most beautiful beaches, Blackpool Sands, is just five miles in the opposite direction. The historic port town of Dartmouth lies a little further beyond and is well worth a day trip.

With several fantastic beaches and two great pubs on its doorstep, plus easy access to South's Devon's bustling towns, a holiday in Stokenham ticks all the boxes.
