Newton Ferrers holiday cottages

Perched on the wooded banks of the River Yealm, our holiday cottages in Newton Ferrers offer you the chance to wake up to beautiful estuary views every morning. Potter to the local butchers to pick up breakfast and return to your sympathetically renovated fisherman's cottage to sip coffee as boats float by.

Right on the edge of the water is Glen Cottage, an 18th Century cottage perfect for a cosy romantic getaway. Its deep-set windows enjoy window seats, so you can take in the ever-changing views of the creek, and the garden extends right the way down to the foreshore. You'll find everything you need for a large family holiday or reunion of friends at The Devon House. This contemporary five bedroom house has been designed to take full advantage of its wonderful views with large picture windows and a balcony running the full width of the house. The Devon House is also one of our pet-friendly holiday cottages.

About Newton Ferrers

At the mouth of the River Yealm, looking across the water towards Noss Mayo, Newton Ferrers is a vibrant little sailing village on the banks of a picturesque estuary. The idyllic waterside village is loved for its stunning cliff top walks and calm waters for sailing, rowing and paddling. Newton Ferrers has a friendly village pub, The Dolphin Inn, where a warm welcome is guaranteed, as well as a pretty tearoom and a small selection of shops.

With a history that dates back to the Domesday Book, the village takes its name from a Norman nobleman, and while its roots had it as a fishing hub, these days it is very much a leisure destination, blessed with all the attributes for a relaxing holiday, including woodland strolls, and peaceful sunbathing spots at the likes of nearby Mothecombe beach (also home to The School House restaurant, recently named as one of the UK's finest in the Sunday Times).

Children revel in the opportunities for crabbing and seeking out coastal wildlife, making it a dreamy family holiday destination. Meanwhile, swimming in the sheltered bays is all part of a South Devon escape - as long as you can brave the temperatures! Potter across the water to Noss Mayo by ferry and you will find scenic walks along the South West Coast Path, as well as views that have inspired many an artist in the area.

For rainy days, you are within driving distance of Plymouth for a visit to the famous National Marine Aquarium, as well as other popular towns, including Salcombe, best known for its sailing and ice cream! Local delicacies are very much a part of the experience when on holiday in Newton Ferrers, so why not dine out at The Ship Inn, a stunning waterside gastro pub across the water in Noss Mayo, or stock up on local produce from nearby Ben's Farm Shop and tuck into a delicious picnic somewhere scenic.
