Noss Mayo is an idyllic waterside escape on the Yealm Estuary where you can wake up to the sound of the water and watch the boats bob by as you tuck into breakfast. Our holiday cottages in Noss Mayo range from chocolate box fishermen's cottages to luxury, modern houses designed to make the most of their estuary views.
Point Cottage lies in a prime waterside position, right in the heart of the village. Newly renovated to a very high standard, every room overlooks the water, and there are two balconies at each end of the house where you can soak up the stunning surroundings. There's room for eight guests and it is also one our dog-friendly cottages, making it ideal for family holidays and groups of friends. If you'd rather escape from it all, Battery Cottage is an idyllic retreat for two set in an unrivalled position near the mouth of the estuary. The South West Coast Path runs right past the cottage and leads you around the clifftops, passing hidden coves on the way.
Nestled 10 miles east of Plymouth, you couldn't feel further from the city in the little, waterside village of Noss Mayo. Lying on the banks of the beautiful Yealm estuary, Noss Mayo is a haven for sailing enthusiasts with its sheltered estuary and access to the Channel: It's great for both novices and experienced sailors.
The village itself is lined with quaint fishermen's cottages and joins the South West Coast Path, taking walkers up through Passage Woods and popping out on the clifftops. From here you get wonderful views back down the estuary and along the coastline. You can drop down to Cellar beach or walk round the headland heading east along The Warren to Stoke beach. You also have the option of taking the ferry across the estuary and walking the coast path towards Plymouth, or you can simply enjoy the creek and visit neighbouring Newton Ferrers.
The village itself has two pubs: The Swan Inn is a small traditional pub with a waterfront beer garden, whilst the Ship Inn is also water-side but is much larger and very welcoming. If you park by the Ship Inn please be warned that the car park is tidal; it is not unheard of for patrons to leave the pub and discover their cars have been submerged!
Noss Mayo is a fantastic place from which to explore the surrounding South Hams. There's a lovely dog friendly beach at short drive away at Mothecombe, or visit the Saturday Barrow Market at the quaint town of Modbury. Dartmoor is also within an easy car journey, and provides heaps of interesting places for you, and any four legged friends to enjoy.
