As its name suggests, Waters Edge boasts a superb creekside position. A tastefully converted fisherman's cottage, it provides a fantastic venue for a family holiday or couples looking for somewhere extra special. There's room for eight guests, and it's also one of our dog-friendly holiday cottages. Only a few steps back from the water is Adam's Orchard, an enchanting thatched cottage with exposed beams and log fire, creating a cosy and stylish base for couples and small families to explore this magical stretch of the River Dart. Despite their secluded feel, our holiday cottages in Stoke Gabriel are ideally placed for discovering both the South Hams and English Riviera.

About Stoke Gabriel

Stoke Gabriel is a picturesque village perched on the edge of an idyllic creek of the River Dart. Once a popular haunt for salmon fishermen, these days holidays in Stoke Gabriel are best spent dangling crab lines off the edge of the old quay, pootling about on the tranquil Mill Pool in little boats and trying your hand at kayaking or paddle boarding.

There are two popular pubs in the village, The Church House Inn and The Castle, as well as a well stocked village shop and post office. There's also a lively café, The River Shack, with beautiful estuary views and a pretty waterside terrace - the perfect place to enjoy an ice cream or chilled glass of wine.

There's no shortage of beautiful walks around Stoke Gabriel, from riverside walks to gentle strolls through the dappled shade of the village's old apple orchard. Make sure to take a wander through the churchyard and visit the oldest resident of the village, a legendary yew tree thought to be almost 1000 years old!

Despite its idyllic, rural feel, Stoke Gabriel is nestled between the ancient port town of Dartmouth, quirky, bohemian Totnes and the English Riviera. For supermarkets, shops, cafes and restaurants, Totnes and Paignton are both only four miles away. Both towns also offering an abundance of family-friendly things to do, from the steam trains at the South Devon Railway, to Paignton Zoo.

For a day at the beach, you'll find the famous English Riviera beaches of Torquay, Brixham and Paignton in one direction, and Blackpool Sands and Slapton in the other.
