Thanks to its scenic location on an arm of the Kingsbridge Salcombe Estuary, there are lots of lovely waterside walks around South Pool so don't forget to pack your trainers and walking boots. It's also a great place to take to the water, offering tranquil waters to pootle about on boats, kayaks or stand up paddle boards when the tide allows. For those who would rather a bracing clifftop walk, you can pick up the South West Coast Path at East Portlemouth or East Prawle, both just over three miles away.
Surrounded by tumbling hills and windy lanes, South Pool has the feel of an idyllic rural retreat yet is only two miles away from the main Kingsbridge to Dartmouth coastal road. Here you'll find the village of Frogmore with a friendly pub, village shop and delicious bakery, or you can continue on to Kingsbridge for a variety of shops, supermarkets, pubs and restaurants.
For a day at the beach, South Pool is close to the golden sandy coves of East Portlemouth, where you can also jump on the passenger ferry to Salcombe to explore its stylish array of boutiques, bars and restaurants.
