About Ringmore

Set at the head of a coastal valley, half a mile inland from Bigbury Bay, a holiday in Ringmore is perfect for those seeking a refreshing dose of salty sea air. A tiny, beautiful village filled with whitewashed thatched cottages and old smugglers lanes, Ringmore is quiet and peaceful, yet several beautiful beaches and the South West Coast Path are an easy walk away.

The nearest beach, Ayrmer Cove, is an easy 10 - 15 minute walk from the village, and is the type of beach many dream of discovering. A secluded, unspoilt cove with clear water and steep, grassy banks, the beach is never crowded and is a lovely spot for a wild swim, picnic or dog walk.

The South West Coast Path runs past Ayrmer Cove, so you can spend your holiday in Ringmore exploring the many miles of spectacular coastal walks. From the village, it's an easy walk eastward to the family-friendly beach and great surfing conditions of Challaborough, where you'll also find a beachside bar and fish and chip takeaway. Continue another five to ten minutes to Bigbury on Sea and the iconic Burgh Island for an ultimate day at the beach. A ride across the waves on the famous sea tractor and a surf lesson with Discovery Surf School should definitely be on your list of things to do during your stay in Ringmore. Those looking for a more challenging adventure should follow the steep slopes of the coast path westward from Ayrmer Cove to the even more secluded Westcombe Beach, or further still to Wonwell beach on the Erme estuary.

End your day at The Journey's End, Ringmore's characterful village pub. Dating back to the 13th Century, it's filled with open fireplaces, wonky walls and wooden beams, making it easy to imagine the smugglers who would have once frequented here. The Journey's End serves delicious pub classics and asian-inspired dishes, is dog-friendly and has a pretty pub garden. The popular Oyster Shack seafood restaurant, Pickwick Inn and Pilchard Inn are all only a short drive away, as is the well-stocked village shop in St Ann's Chapel.

Waking up in a pretty thatched cottage only a short walk from South Devon's stunning coastline - a holiday in Ringmore is hard to beat.
