About Loddiswell

On first impressions, Loddiswell is the kind of small, historic village that epitomises a holiday in South Devon. Look closer or, even better, venture out for a stroll and you will find its boundaries stretching into the most spectacular rural scenery.

Dip down into the valley towards the River Avon and you will find chocolate-box perfect hospitality at Avon Mill, complete with artisan shops and a scenic walk close by that runs along a historic (and long since abandoned) railway. Equally, there is the nearby delights of Aune Valley and its accompanying cafe, Valley View, which serves the most exceptional breakfasts, lunches and bits in between from its very own farm.

One of the great assets of a holiday in Loddiswell is the easy access it affords to all the surrounding activities, adventures and cultural attractions of South Devon. Within a short driving distance for example, you will reach the sailing town of Salcombe, known for its spectacular coastal walks, beautiful beaches and exceptional Salcombe Dairy ice cream.

Loddiswell is also only four miles away from the historic market town of Kingsbridge, where you will find a collection of boutique shops as well as cafes and restaurants. Food is a big part of a holiday in Devon - the region is known for produce including superb seafood, in particular its local crab. As such, while you will find everything from fine dining to beachside cafes within a few miles of Loddiswell.

Loddiswell is ideally located to access all the beaches that the South West is known for, from the surfing haven of Bantham, looking out towards Burgh Island where Agatha Christie famously wrote a number of her murder mysteries, to the sandy idyll of South Milton Sands. Outdoor activities are what the South West is known for, these include a clifftop round of golf at Thurlestone Golf Club, kayaking through the crystal clear waters of South Sands and hiring a boat in Salcombe.
