About Hooe

Sitting on a tidal estuary off the River Plym, Hooe is perfectly located to explore all the area has to offer. The village itself has a small village shop, large green with play park and a good waterside pub from which you can watch the birds and other wildlife on Hooe Lake, a haven for wildlife and a much loved conservation area.

Less than a mile from Hooe finds you in Mount Batten, where you can catch a ferry across the bay to the historic city of Plymouth. Also easily accessible by car or bus, here you can discover the fascinating Barbican area with its colourful naval past, National Marine Aquarium, wealth of bars and restaurants and plenty of shopping opportunities. You could easily spend several days of your holiday in Hooe exploring Plymouth's historic streets, bustling bars and myriad of highstreet and independent shops.

The National Trust's Saltram House is also just a few miles away and well worth a visit - wander through the rooms of this magnificent Georgian mansion or lose yourself in the unexpected tranquillity of Saltram's gardens, just minutes from the city centre.

The beautiful sandy beaches at Bovisand are only a short drive from Hooe and offer stunning views over the River Tamar towards Cornwall. Wembury beach is also nearby where you'll find acres of sand, safe swimming and an expanse of rock pools at low tide. And for those looking to stretch their legs there are plenty of coastal walks nearby.
