About Challaborough

Set right on the edge of Bigbury Bay with beautiful views of Burgh Island, and a golden, sandy beach on your doorstep, it's no surprise that holidays in Challaborough are so popular.

Families flock to the seaside village thanks to its soft sandy beach, seasonal lifeguard cover and facilities. There's a handy shop, beachside bar, arcade and toilets, all part of Challaborough's caravan park, so you'll hardly have to use your car. There's even a fish and chip takeaway, Fryer Tucks, and in our opinion, no holiday in Challaborough is complete without tucking into fish 'n' chips on the beach whilst watching the sunset!

If one beach just isn't enough, the South West Coast Path runs right past Challaborough, so you can walk along the headland and find your favourite spot. Head east to Bigbury on Sea where you can catch the famous sea tractor to Burgh Island, or learn to surf, SUP and kayak courtesy of Discovery Surf School. Alternatively, set off westwards to Arymer Cove and Westcombe Beach. Whilst the walk is much more challenging, these picturesque coves are lovely and peaceful - you might even find you have the whole beach to yourself!

Challaborough is also one of South Devon's best surf spots, and thanks to the shape of the bay and position of its sand bar, it produces waves suitable for both seasoned pros and beginners. Whether you're looking for lessons or have been surfing for years, it couldn't be easier to get out on the water.

If you're looking for a traditional seaside getaway, a holiday in Challaborough can't be beaten.
