With two golden beaches, a traditional village pub, great clifftop golf course and the South West Coast Path right on your doorstep, a holiday cottage in Thurlestone ticks all the boxes for unforgettable holiday by the sea.
Wayfarings, a spacious, contemporary house, makes the perfect base for a family holiday, with plenty of room for eight guests. It's also one of our many dog-friendly holiday cottages, so you don't have to leave any member of the family behind. If you're looking for a romantic getaway by the sea, The Nook is a picture-perfect thatched cottage filled with character and charm, and has a log burner to cosy up in front of after a bracing walk along the beach.
Thurlestone is perched close to the coast with its own large sandy beach just a short walk away. Picturesque thatched and stone cottages line the village streets and there's a local pub which makes a great stop off after a long walk. The village has a well-stocked shop, plus a golf course right on the doorstep which boasts cliff top greens with spectacular sea views. This is certainly a fantastic spot for relaxing.
Whether you are taking a bracing winte's walk or a sunny summe's stroll down the sand, ther's a beachside café at South Milton which is in the perfect place for a refreshing pause. Looking out over the water you will be unable to miss the iconic Thurlestone rock archway. At low tide a vast area of seaweed and rock is revealed where you can make your way (be careful - it's slippery!) right to the base of the arch, and investigate interesting rock pools along the way.
The South West Coast Path runs right past the village and will take keen walkers towards Bantham beach which has a vast expanse of sand at low tide. Venturing in the other direction is the quaint fishing village of Hope Cove, perfect for a spot of lunch or a cream tea by the sea.
Dogs are welcome on the beach at Thurlestone all year round so the whole family, including your furry friends can enjoy a holiday here. The waters are fairly sheltered and are shallow enough for kids to enjoy a splash about, whilst on windy days, this is a great spot for watching kite boarders and windsurfers jumping the waves.
